Here are some basic tips to remember:
1. Brush Your Teeth. One in the morning, and another before going to bed. Keep the brushing time at two minutes and make sure to reach all the nooks and crannies of your mouth. If you can, floss at least once a day to keep the food from being stuck in between your teeth. Mouthwash keeps your breath fresh and adds to the overall dental hygiene.
2. Keep Sugar To A Minimum. Candies are the leading cause of tooth decay in children. Adults will have to look out for sugary drinks and desserts as well. The sweet tooth has to be tempered with consistent daily brushing or flossing to keep the tooth-wrecking sugar fairies at bay.
3. Replace Your Toothbrush Every Three Months. The bristles can get worn out and may not be as effective in ridding your teeth of debris. A new toothbrush means that you can maintain a high level of teeth cleaning over the years.
4. Visit Your Dentist Regularly. A checkup every 6 months is optimal for having a dental expert take a look at your teeth and make sure everything is okay. Cavities that you cannot see will easily be detected by the dentist, allowing them to fix it before the decay spreads to the neighboring teeth.
